Advice

Here we hope to share what our adventures have taught us to make yours a little easier.

Pet Travel
We are traveling with our best friend, a terrier called Odie. He seems to be loving it.  Travel around Western Europe is easy with a pet passport, you can find details on how we went about it here:
traveldoggie.com
It is apparently more difficult in Eastern Europe but still possible within all of the EU. We will keep you updated if we get that far.

Motorhome Tips

1. Buy a hose and various tap adaptors
2. Buy various or a universal plug for sinks
3. Memory foam toppers or our handy thermarests
4. Fit your van with refillable gas cylinders, we have managed thus far but it would save headaches.

Motorhome Lessons
What we have learnt on our travels so far:
1. Our toilet swivels not helpful to my gymnast ambitions
2. Always get your passenger to check the bollard is fully down before driving out a parking lot
3. Create a checklist to stick to dashboard so you don’t end up with your electric hook up point flapping as you drive or drawers randomly opening on the motorway
4. Make another post it including your height, width and length with a metric conversion
5. Sleeping downstairs is much more comfortable and upstairs is great for storage
6. You won’t know you have crossed a border until the road signs change, very different to Africa where you spend at least a couple of hours in a queue before someone goes through your vehicle with a tooth-comb
7. Pump up your tyres before putting your bicycle on rack as this will prevent rubbing causing your tyre to contort and bulge before your eyes
8. Sweep the bed before putting bedding on, this stops it getting gritty
9. Don’t leave your dog in the van unless you secure him via his lead, this prevents them from scratching through the blinds/flynets
